"I just received your bushings and installed it with no problems.
The feel is 2.
"I have to say that I just received your bushings
and these are great. After taking the center
console off, I shifted the gears some. I was surprised at how much the
shifting assembly moves with the rubber bushings. If one wants to sorta
feel what I mean. Take the shifter and put it in gear, first will do.
slowly, without using much force, push the stick until you feel the side
of the gear. Now use some force and push in the same direction. On mine
it moves another ~1/4" maybe a little less, it just looks like it
is moving more than it should. One can always take the center console
off and see what I mean, I can't really paint a good mental
picture. Anyway the new bushings make the shift assembly feel like
it is welded to the frame. I can actually feel a real click moving the
shifter around. There is a hard stop after putting the car into each
gear. I still haven't driven it much after the change (20 or so miles),
but I already like it. Just my opinion, but it is well worth the
$20." 4.
"Hello Kind people. I
had ordered and received the kumosport kit for my 2000 Celica GT.
It is an absolutely great modification for the car.
I had purchased a B&M shortshifter, but did not like the
effort the shifter added. The
Kumosports provided the same benefits as the much more costly
shortshifter, adding precision and eliminating the "slop" in
the stock assembly. The
kumosport provides this, along with keeping the slick shifting action of
the stock lever. A great
addition and unbeatable for the price." 5.
"The
feel is much more mechanical and solid than it was before installing the
kit. I have NO IDEA why Toyota does not set up the shifter this way from
the factory. The only thing I can figure is that everyday pleasure
drivers may possibly prefer the original "squishy" feel
because it may possibly be less tiring on your shift hand to have the
extra freeplay. But that's a stretch, cause it doesn't make any sense to
me. IMO this is a HUGE improvement over the factory setup. The effect is
that the shifts feel shorter, and when you shift into a gear, it just
sort of locks right into place. The best way I can illustrate this is if
you put your car in a gear (any gear) then push any direction on the
shift knob. Feel that squishy freeplay? Well, that is almost completely
eliminated with the aluminum bushings. I noticed also when I removed the
center console and looked at what the shifter base was doing while I
shifted through the gears, that there is also a surprising amount of
freeplay WHILE you are shifting (not just after shifting). This is why
the throws seem shorter now (because they are)." |
